Today we take a look at this Kurumi Tokisaki figure by Alter in scale 1:8, which was released on the occasion of the Date A Live Mayuri Judgement movie. You can also watch the review in video form on my Youtube channel: https://youtu.be/oXKBBCNdrEk
Kurumi Tokisaki is one of the main characters from the anime and the Light Novel series "Date a Live". She is portrayed as a beautiful, intelligent and dangerous young woman with long black hair and crimson eyes. Kurumi is also known as "Nightmare" and possesses the ability to manipulate time, which allows her to move with incredible speed or teleport to different places. Despite her charming personality, Kurumi is a very chaotic and unpredictable character who also often shows a sadistic side. She is obsessed with the idea of killing the main character of the series, Shido Itsuka, and would go to great lengths to achieve this goal. However, she also has a vulnerable side and a tragic backstory, which is revealed more and more as the series progresses.
One of Kurumi's trademarks is the flintlock pistol, which she uses to shoot shadowy "clones" of herself. As an Astral dress, she wears a gothic Lolita-style outfit with a frilly dress and a kind of headband. All in all, Kurumi Tokisaki is a complex and intriguing character that also adds depth to the series.
Sexy pose with threatening pistol
The figure is based on Kurumi's usual Gothic Lolita style Astral dress. She wears an orange frilly dress with black stripes, black suspenders underneath and black leather boots tied with black bows. She wears a kind of black and orange headband that is decorated with a red ribbon and ends with a bow on both sides. Around her neck she wears a black collar with a red bow. Her black hair ends the tips in a red-brown color. On her forearms she wears sleeves, matching the style of the dress. Her left eye is a dial in a yellow-gold color, as is also known for the character. Her normal eye is purple-red. Depending on the variant, Kurumi can hold her flintlock pistol in her hand or run her index finger over her lips.
Kurumi poses here in a very seductive pose, bending one of her legs slightly and placing it on the tip of her foot while lifting her dress a little to show more of her legs. She has her head slightly tilted and covers her face with her hand, in which she carries a pistol, covers her eye. In the other variant, she runs her index finger over her lips in a very lascivious gesture. over her lips. She has a playful smile on her face.
The quality of the figure leaves nothing to be desired. Everything is well and there are no flaws to be seen in the workmanship. This figure is also characterized by an incredible depth of detail as can be seen on the embellishments of the dress or the intricacies of her flintlock pistol.
Kurumi Tokisaki wears a lively outfit with accents
The color composition of this figure clearly captures Kurumi's trademark. The saturation of her orange dress makes her look very lively and playful at first glance. The color coordination in black and orange runs consistently throughout the figure and forms contrast with each other everywhere. Kurumi is known for her manipulative nature and her talent for hiding her true intentions. The vibrant orange of her dress could be seen as a contrast to her dark personality and her ability to manipulate time. It could also be a deception to keep her opponents safe. The black parts of the dress could be be the accents that hint at her true dark personality.
The base here is a translucent purple red like that of her eye red. It also has the Date A Live lettering in English and Japanese and a black ring pattern in the style of the black rings on her dress. This makes the base simple, but still somewhat interesting and matching in color.
The packaging comes with transparent walls and two illustrations of the figure on the side. Spread across the packaging is Kurumi's full name in English and Japanese characters as well as the Date A Live lettering. The pattern is depicted in the lower third of the walls, with which the base is also decorated.
High level of detail for justifiable price
You can get the figure at the time of this writing at a price of approx. 200€ from various figure dealers. On closer inspection, you will notice the many small details that really give this figure a very high-quality impression and make it worth the price. 200€ does not feel wrong for the value of this figure.
Now let's compare this figure with this Kurumi in school uniform in scale 1:7 from Kotobukiya, which I bought a few weeks ago for a price 170€ a few weeks ago, then we can see that the workmanship itself is of equal quality. However, the level of detail is not quite behind. Apart from that, however, it also poses in a very seductive and I also like the base very much.
In conclusion, it can be said that this Kurumi Tokisaki figure from Alter with a price of just over 200€ is a rather expensive figure, but this is justified by the very high-quality and high detail. For me personally, this Kurumi feels as if it has been worth the high price.
